Thomas Austin ''Amarillo Slim'' Preston Jr. was an acclaimed professional poker player. I understand that he won the 1972 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1992. He just passed away at the age of 83. I didn't know the gentleman but I thought maybe we could post some casino chips in his honor. I only have a few in my collection. Here are two I picked-up while gambling in Romania in 2010.
These are from my 'Binion Collection Coins and Chips' Custom Set on the NGC Registry (Link: http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/member_dashboard.aspx). I remember staying at Binion's Horseshoe Casino in downtown Vegas. At one time it had a 'Million Dollar' display. You could have your photograph taken in front of a large horseshoe with a 'Million Dollars' in the background. -thecointrader
This is my favorite of all of my poker chips. It is a vintage 1950's $25 dollar token from the Sahara. There is a chance that the rat pack tossed this around.
Jason, according to my Collector's Guide to Nevada Gaming Checks & Chips, this design was produced 1963-1982. Chris
I acquired these on Friday night. But I sold them for face value to a huge collector behind a caged wall that same night. Next time I am there I hope to have more I can sell.
