Post a gold commemorative folks. I'll start off with a Statue of Liberty (1986) $5 piece (unc. & proof). This particular coin helped to usher in the "modern" era of commemorative coins which began in 1982 with the George Washington (250th anniversary of his birth) commemorative. Gold issues proliferate in the modern era but if any of you guys have more "classical" issues ('26 Sesquicentennial of American Independence $5, '22 Grant Memorial $1, etc.) please do post 'em.....
Those are fantastic Ken! Amongst my favorite modern gold pieces! I'm after an Unc. SoL myself. I have the silver SoL coins yet, some of the only modern silver commems I didn't deacquisition when I sold all my other modern silver commems. Here's another that I really like, the 2006-S San Francisco Earthquake & Fire Centennial Commemorative: Apologies that this is so low resolution. I'm still working on getting my slabbed coins properly imaged. These are the listing images I kept for reference, although I put them in this background template myself.
I sold a set (Three Coin Liberty Set) containing one of those six months ago. They were probably the highest grade I'll ever own. I couldn't see anything on any of the three coins. I sold it for typical set value so I hope they're all MS69s and MS70s or I took a ride on the experience railroad.
Ken, Looks like your proof lady Liberty took one on the chin there! Ouch!!! I will post some of mine when I get on my other computer.
Actually the holder took it on the chin. Funny thing. After I took that photo and saw those marks I went back and checked real close. Doing this close up photography is almost like working with a 20x loupe.....you wind up seeing things you don't want to see.....
