I have several and they weigh: ‘86, ‘90, ‘91, ‘93, ‘99 - all denver mint. Any value to these? Can’t find much about that type of planchet error.
Umm the odds of you having 5 extremely rare (if not nonexistent) error coins are incredibly low. Are you sure your scale is working correctly? Oh, and pictures would certainly help.
Yawn. If you actually found 1 of these in your lifetime, it would be the collective score of 10 million numismatists. But of course you have 5 of them. Why wouldn't I believe that? What's not to believe? You'll be on the next 30 Coin World covers in a row, and you will be on the Tonight Show next week, and the star of the Heritage Auction catalogue. Folk songs will be written about you. Children will study you in the history books.
I think arrogantly lambasting a newbie is rather counterproductive to our hobby. I swear, this forum drives away more would-be numismatists than anything else I've seen.
Newbies are treated with as much respect as anyone else. It is the post that is being spoofed and not the poster. I did poke fun, but I didn't mention the poster by name, or try to shame or humiliate. The post is preposterous without any back up evidence, just a blank claim. Is it possible? Of course, anything is possible, the sun could blow up tomorrow and everything that has happened on earth will never be known. Do I hope I am wrong? 100% yes. Be fascinating to discover 5 off metal cents. But the odds say it's not legit. You could spend the rest of your life going through 1 billion cents, and yes you may find 1 off metal cent error, but most likely you will find 0. But 5 all at once? Would be like winning the powerball 5 drawings in a row.
