Possibly 3 varieties of 2008-W ASE

We all know that there are two varieties of the 2008-W burnished ASE one with the new 2008 reverse and one using the 2007 reverse.

Now there appears to be a 3rd variety reported by Texast on the PCGS coin forum.

This variety has a shiney reverse. From the photo provided it almost makes it look like a poor man's Reverse Proof.

However, there appears to be a difference in the letter "S" in the word "SILVER".

I am not sure about this new variety as it hasn't been varified by either PCGS or NGC yet.

OK start looking at your reverses of the 2008 Burnished ASE's again.

hmm one of my coins looks like a poor mans reverse proof i hope this turns out to be a super rare variety

nice varieties... hopefully if there are limited coins with differances liek this.. it will be members of Cointalk who gets them..and NOT some rich coin dealer who just wants to make yet more money i love it when valuables are found in the hands of collectors instead of dealers!

 

FUNNY THAT YOU MENTION THIS - because yesterday I got in my 08/07REV ASE Ws, and was going to say that the OBVERSE, not the reverse looks like it could be a reverse proof. I was sort of disappointed because I wanted it to be all frosty white, but it looked kinda cool. Brought back memories of 06!

OK - just looked - no luck. It would be interesting to find out when Texast ordered his and when he got them in. Silver Strike that is your mission if you choose to accept it.

Silver strike -
I also noticed that this third variety is found on 08/08 rev. Only my 08/07s looked like the obverse that you posted earlier which I am assuming that is the obverse of the coin that Texast posted. Still any word as to when he got this?

 

I just read somewhere that this is the latest variety that they found.

Definately has a different finish to the 2008 2007/Rev I have.


I think it looks quite sweet.

sure they will after they recognize it first otherwise we might not even get what we paid for it
