Is this 1964 50 centimes a strike through error or is there supposed to be a hole in the guys helmet? Thanks, Charlie
It's possible it's a strike through - also possible it's damage. Either way, it's not supposed to be there.
It looks like a strike-through error. Given it's somewhat ragged shape, it's also possible that this is a defect in the planchet that was not smoothed out by the strike. Examination under a microscope would tease apart these possibilities.
