This is my first post here, so hello all!! My daughter found a 1960 dime that got me curious. I have attached pics of front and back. My question is about the rim above the "united states of America" on back. It looks like it was mid stamped. The bottom rim is wider and the top is almost nonexistent. Same way on front but not as noticeable. Am I correct or is it just worn funny? Also what would this coin be worth? Thanks for helping me out.
Well, to start off, it's 90% silver, so it's worth barely over $2 given the current silver price. As for the "mis stamped part," I think what you're referring to is a slightly misaligned die. I've seen this sort of thing happen with dimes a lot more than other denominations, so I would assume it's fairly common. But hey, nice score on the silver though! :thumb:
Thanks for the quick reply. The silver was intentional. I told her to save every coin pre 65. It may be common and I just have never noticed it before.
