Possible mint mark die break?

Has anyone ever seen what I'm assuming is a die break in this 1993 D Lincoln cent? I hope it's nothing rare because the rest of the coin is trashed :)

It appears the crest of the mint mark is the peak of a sort of mountain and the base extends all the way to the '9'

Sorry about the quality of the photo.
    Thanks!

I cannot see that being a die break. I more suspect the rest of your coin being trashed is your answer. That is probably either zinc corrosion beneath the copper or a simple separation of the layers.

  4. I have not seen that before...possibly post-mint damage? TC

I don't think it can be post mint damage because it is raised and there is no mark on the opposite side. Thanks for the input though.

Corrosion or separation of layers are both a form of PMD and neither will show anything on the opposite side.

Ha ha ha... rim's, you were exactly right! Your idea sounded plausable so I decided to poke at the raised area and I was able to depress the whole area. Must have been a corrosion or something. Thanks a lot!!!
