Possibly mis-aligned die, quite common. Also referred to as a MAD.

Yes, I like to see what other people have to say. I like to learn from people that know what they are talking about. Can't learn if you don't ask questions. right? The more knowledge, the better.

I answered the poll just so you'd know it's nothing. Just a loose collar or worn die, quite common with Zinc cents. Keep asking. It's a great way to learn.

I have a question, too. My Pan-Pac half dollar has a similar feature, similar to most others I saw. Is that also from die deterioration?
