Hello and welcome to Cointalk! It is a bit hard to tell from the pics and I am no expert here but it is likely the result of a cracked die or something along those lines. Others here may be more helpful but you will find lots of good info. Enjoy! J
Welcome to CT. From what I can make out of it, I would guess that the die got some grease in it. That can affect large areas or just a piece of a letter.
