Still in the organizing stages with my World coins, and have come across a Silver Medal, I believe it could could be one of the Shahs, but I can't find anything to prove it one way or the other. The date in Arabic is 1333, 1954 in our calendar. It sure looks like silver and weighs 21.7 grams ( there is a hole in it) and is 36 mm in diameter. there are a couple of photos, labeled Medals at this site. http://www.pbase.com/jonysky/mystery_coins I'd be grateful for any input from the boards members. Thanks, JonySky
JonySky,the calendar in use in Iran & Afghanistan is based on a Solar Hegira year,as opposed to the AH dating system, which is a lunar calendar.SH1333 (1954) was a year of turmoil for Iran as the then Prime Minister,Mossadeq, tried to seize power from the Shah, but the Prime Minister was overthrown & gaoled after the Shah returned from a brief period in exile.
