Does anyone else see letters on the shield nickel where the arrows are? I was also wondering about the racketeer nickel and why the wear on the coin is in the areas where there is no gold? There are much more details in the areas where the gold is. Did the coin wear and the gold wear off? Looks like someone made a pin out of it. There is no way of telling if someone found it and made a pin out of it or they dipped it in gold to make a pin.

Can't really tell anything about the shield nickel. by the time you blow up the picture enough to see anything there is enough pixilization that you can't tell if you are seeing something real or a digital artifact.

Why is there no gold on the worn areas? Because the gold that was in those areas worn away first before the coin metal did. It remains in the lower detail areas and the fields

That is what I thought also, the gold wore off then the coin medal did as oppose to the coin was already worn and then dipped. The details are much better in the areas where gold is still present, in the low areas of the coin. I believe the coin was in good shape when dipped. Whether this was an actual racketeer nickel made into a pin or was created after the fact is unable to be determine really. There is a possibility it could be a real racketeer nickel but no way to prove that fact.

Yes, someone mentioned about a possible error on one coin now I keep looking to find stuff that is not there. I think I should just stick to the obvious when looking for errors like something off-center.
