I saved this little guy from circulation yesterday.

I imagine some day I'll give it to some YN looking to fill a spot in their coin book.

    YN?

I've picked up a few 1987Ps -- still wondering where the 1987Ds are all hiding out. Apparently out on the pavement somewhere..

Are you buying them or finding them in circulation? Because since they both came from the same place (1987 mint sets) I have almost always found them in pairs in circulation, in fact I think I'm up to 5 or 6 pairs by now.

I'm pulling them out of circulation. No two were in the same shipment of boxes. Unfortunately, no matching 1987D pair..

I did pick up a 1970D the other day, circulated, but in a teller's coin tray. :) I looked, pointed at the half I wanted, and had an "whoa!" moment seeing the 1970. I thought I'd find one sooner. Just looking for the 1987D now to complete my circulation strike set. (Though all my Kennedy halves have been pulled out of circulation, even the proofs.)

I have never found the pair together. With the amount of circulation on this one, I'm guessing it was separated from it's partner mint coin long ago.

I've yet to find a 1970 half, but i'm still hoping. Given some of the really valuable coins I've found in circulation, I know it's still possible.

I got my first (and only) 1970-D from a bank teller's roll, it's quite a nice surprise to see!

As for the '87 P&D halves, I guess I just must be closer to the source of people turning them in, because I've found them more often together than separate.

I have to say that geographic location has a lot to do with it since I have searched an approximately equal amount in both Iowa and Maine and never found an '87 in Iowa, yet found quite a few in Maine.

As is for me in Chicago, Maine has a much denser population. Therefore there are more people available to cash in coins that should be saved (old change jars, stolen collections, "borrowed" collections, inherited collections, etc...)

That poor coin looks like an ebay "mint error". Wonder if they are thinking about changing the rules on that?

List it you might get an offer of 51 cents if you ship for free!
