I am researching this coin. I have seen several examples with the Amazon wearing the wolf skin obverse, and the Nike holding a wreath reverse, but every one has the greek "AMI SOY" on the reverse. I have not found this greek on any example. Can anyone tell me what it says? Thanks
Hi Norm ... no idea, but ironically I'm a huge fan of the good ol' Pontos coins!! => cheers brother!! :thirst::thirst:
I think its Paphlagonia, Sinope rather than Pontos, Amisos actually, but I can't find an example yet. pretty nice one though! http://wildwinds.com/coins/greece/paphlagonia/sinope/t.html
Many coins of these two cities share types. I read the OP as Sinope. http://wildwinds.com/coins/greece/paphlagonia/sinope/SNGvA_228v.jpg
Dang => I was outbid on a Paphlagonia Medusa coin earlier this morning!! (I was very sad ... it was "almost" as sweet as the coin shown in your link) ... *sigh* ... I'm pretty sure that it sold for $320!!
