"Pompeii the New Dig" - "House of Treasures" is a 2025 documentary which is being shown on PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) television stations in August 2025. At Pompeii, Italian archaeologists complete the biggest dig in a generation, where they strike gold and luxury in one of Pompeii’s richest homes. Six Roman gold aureus coins were found near the skeleton of a middle-aged woman and most of the coins were shown. The program showed photographs of the gold coins and I attempted to put together images of the coins. I found obverses and reverses for five of them, but for one coin, the "Annona" coin, I could not locate an obverse. Some coins were photographed from angles and I resized the images but did not otherwise alter them. The Wildwinds website has images and descriptions of the coins. https://www.wildwinds.com/coins/index.html "RIC" is Roman Imperial Coins, a standard catalog of Roman coins. Some of these coins were struck under Vespasian, the father of Titus and Domitian. Well done for extracting those images! Certainly interesting coins. This series showed here in the UK earlier in the year - well worth watching.
