I ran across this coin among a group from the junk bucket. All my research indicates that Polish coins are all some type of metal. This one is an exact copy of a 20 Groszy coin, but its plastic. Its dated 2000 about 18.5 mm in diameter, weighs 0.4 grams, has a bronze color, and is pictured below. Does anyone know if Poland made any plastic coins in 2000? I suppose it could be play money. The obverse has the eagle within a flat circle as a background and the date/country in a ring outside the circle. The orientation is 90 degrees obverse to reverse. Anyone have any thoughts? thanks for taking a look, Bill
The design does resemble an actual Polish 20 groszy coin. But of course the material and the color are "wrong". Also, the inscription on the side with the eagle is oddly aligned. On the real coins, the year is precisely below the tail of the bird. http://www.mennica.com.pl/en/produc...ation-coins/product/zobacz/20-grosz-coin.html So yes, I also think that is some kind of play money ...
