I thought PMD at first but after looking with 17x its just a stretched out N. I have never seen this so I'm scratching my head. I know it's off center 0929180522~2.jpg 0929180523b~2.jpg 0929180524b~2.jpg 0929180525b~2.jpg 0929180525c~2.jpg 0929180526b~2.jpg

what stretched the left side almost to the rim with a straight line like that? seems odd that that side goes straight to the rim with unbroken line. Wouldn't it show a break or something before folding up and making it twice as tall?

Are you asking about just under the I in IN. The mark from the rim to the inside. I think something fell on the rim denting it down and skidded across the surface for a couple mms. looks like the scrap got larger from the rim nick to under the I. But can't tell to well.

    okay

I was talking about the left vertical line of the N itself. I'm not saying anyone is wrong I'm just trying to picture how something could disturb the coin so much and that line just be extended to the rim and it look like a natural line. Thanks for the help.

Do you own a tool box?

Myself, when I work on stuff I do not like coins in my pocket. So I put my coins places .. if I have one of my toolboxes I'll throw it in there in a small area. And guess where I throw my tools into when I'm done ? Sooner or later all my change gets throw into containers though whether it's in my computer bag, car cupholder, etc. My son puts his coins in a glass bowl of which he throws the metal nail clippers into when he's done; thus hitting the coins. That's where I check when I need them and can't find them.

If you lose change in a field it might get hit by an antique DD plow too. You never know.

Coins get damaged all the time from various things. People do not coddle their change.

I believe the plow example. Your other ideas seem a tad unbelievable

Yeah I know, go figure. I see plenty of videos of ppl using metal detectors in plowed fields.

My son actually has two of them right now

think of all the Mint Errors we're creating !!!!
    We're rich.

I know my dad has coins in his large toolbox just bouncing around the drawers. We're gonna get them all graded MS70 (various) Mint Errors by PCGS !! because we all know each and every coin that has ever been minted is coddled, each in a velvet drawstring pouch, distributed to end users who keep each coin in a protective pouch for use. Each cash register is large enough to store each coin in it's individual pouches to prevent any scratches or damage of any type. Only those coins taken out of the pouches are then considered damaged, by the mint !!

And remember, if you want to use money for commerce, just say "no". Find another means to buy stuff so we don't damage any coins or paper bills.
