I found this while roll hunting , my first thought was that it's pmd, then I thought it was some kind of 'almost' clip error lol , I just couldn't get myself to roll it back up without getting some of your opinions. Have you seen anything like this? Thank you for your help.

This is just a guess, but if it had been an "almost clip" as you put it, it would seem to me that when the planchet was struck in the coining chamber that the mark would have been almost totally eradicated. The mark appears to be recessed, which leads me to think that it is PMD, and someone or something impressed another cent into it.

I am thinking PMD also because the mark carries over across the rim. If this was made during stamping, I would expect to see a full rim as the metal would be pushed into that area of the die. I believe this was struck by another coin in the bag possibly and the imprint made when another bag of coins tossed on top of it creating a nan-chuk effect that made the mark. Just a thought.

Possibly unintentional, but this is just a "hammer" job coin where another coin made the imprint.

Thank you for your opinions , I agree with cashdude, the curvature of that mark match a U.S. cent exactly. I'll keep it just beacuse I haven't found one before and it's only a cent.

That's what I do. Anything that looks "funky" and all the copper ones of course, get set aside. I even made a 1000 gram weight of junk coins so I can calibrate my scale. It's a real inexpensive way to collect, that's a fact.
