I have been on my computer for HOURS and have not come close to identifying this coin....tho I am almost bald from pulling my hair out, lol! I am hoping that possibly you might help me? I believe it is a German Coin of some kind. It is silver...at least in color and quite beautiful.....in GREAT condition. On one side it says in large letters..."WELTKRIEG" and then on the same side of the coin around another arc...."IM JAHRE 1914". On the same side in the middle....there is a raised crest and inside it in small writing...."In treue vereint schlagen wir den feind" On the other side are two men...raised...facing each other with the German crosses under each of them and above them in small letters...."Kaiser Franz Joseph I...Kaiser Wilhem II I hope that helps.....I would love to know what I have here and what it might be worth? thanks in advance!.......Chava
World War In the year 1914 In faithful united we strike the enemy Austro-Hungarian Emperor German Emperor What you have is not a coin, but a patriotic medal issued shortly after the beginning of the First World War, honoring the participation of the Austro-Hungarians and Germans in the Central Powers. It is undoubtedly collectible, but coin catalogs won't have any information about it.
Not content with evicting Miss Moore from my avatar you have to go and flush all the other non-coin pics out too!
Here's the scene so far...... First of all.....thanks for the replies! ok....you are correct....it is a medal. From what I've gathered....it is from right before World War I and speaks of the impending war. HOWEVER....I have probably been to 100's of websites and cannot find the sucker! I can't even come up with anything close to it!! Sooooooo frustrating!!!! Going in for surgery tomorrow, but perhaps I could scan it when I get back home. Hey.....let's have a contest and see if we can identify it, lol!! (*snicker*....good way to get some help, eh?) smooooooch.....Chava
