I purchased this with the buyer's description of "XF" and photos that weren't that great to tell for sure. Since I paid a retail XF price, I'd like some opinions from the helpful CT community. What do you guys think? Any and all comments are welcome! Thanks. Rob
If I owned it, and I was entering it on my own spreadsheets, I would inventory it as VF30. It has a tad more wear on it for me to grade it VF35. IMHO.
I paid $46 which was is grey sheet for XF40 (delivered price...seller was asking $55 and accepted my offer). I could probably return it, but I think I'll just suck it up. It's not like it is a 20. Any contrary opinions? Rob
Pictured right is VF35 from PCGS website. I'd say yours lack some detail lines inside the stars, especially those lower left ones and also the lower side of "LIBERTY" band lacks some definition. I'll give it a VF32.5
The problem with grading from the PCGS photograde is actually knowing the striking characteristics of the series. Considering myself to be on the side of knowing the series, you will find that the earlier dates tend to have the obverse band stuck deeper than later dates.
VF35, you could stretch it all the way to 40 except for the tiniest bit too much wear on the hair under the band and the wingtips, IMO.
