Hi, This is my first post on the forum and know nothing about coins. I picked up this coin along with hundreds of others at a yard sale this past summer. This is a good starter collection for my 10 year old daughter. If anyone could please help me identify this coin and its value it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve
Welcome, Steve. Your coin is a Bulgarian 5 Leva. I would estimate the value at between $30-$50, but that is just a guess. Good luck to you and your daughter!
The '96 Standard Catalog of World Coins lists it at $20 in VF condition. Mintage was 512,000 and it contains .7234 of an ounce of silver. You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
