I recentley went to Afghanistan and meet a guy who is dealing with Islamic coins, this is one of his Coins. Can anyone please share some light on this as to where, how old, and what it worths today? Thank you so much in advance.
I don't know too much about foreign coins, but it is fairly common knowledge that counterfeit coins are largely available in the Middle East. Before you commit your money, perhaps others will chime in to tell you whether or not these are authentic. For what it's worth, they look to me like they are "hot off the presses". Chris
Just from looking at the flan, it looks genuine to me. Rarely do you see a fake that has been bent like that. Now I know nothing about these Asian coins, but I know a good bit about hammered gold from Europe. You need somebody that knows these coins to see it in person to tell you if it is genuine for sure. But I'd sure lean in the genuine direction.
I served in a Police Mission in Afghanistan and was witness to widespread FAKES, mainly in gem stones. It was a shame to see US buying that crap not thinking of the old phrase," you get what you pay for". Sorry I cant help on your coins. I did find a US quarter in a tray of old roman coins at a buzzare over there one time. I asked to peddler how much for this coin. He said $2.00. I then held it up to announced to all there that there was a US quarter for $2.00 right here! We all laughed.
