I have 2 old Chinese coins that I can’t identify. Can someone help? The larger of the two is 2” and the other is 1.75”. Both appear to be brass.
Here are 2 good sites to help you ID your coins. http://www.sportstune.com/chinese/coins/idpage.html http://www.calgarycoin.com/reference/china/china8.htm#chien lung FYI, your coins are not aligned properly in the top picture. Rotate 180* for the larger coin and a quarter turn to the left for the smaller coin. Bottom picture also needs to be rotated a quarter turn to the left I believe.
First coin; Hsien Feng, AD 1851-1861, 50 cash. Second coin; Photo not good enough to tell what the symbols are.
The one on the right top picture looks like the obverse of a Vietnam issue by King MINH-MANG (1820-1838). I'll look to see if I can find a match for the reverse. 明命通寶 Minh Mạng Thông Bảo edit; looked in Dr Allan Barker's "Historical Cash Coins Of Việt Nam" but don't see the four character match for the reverse. Could be a charm.
明命 ("bright life") gives me Minh-Mang with a web search, and doesn't match any Chinese Imperial era names.
