I would greatly appreciate it if I could have your input on the grade of this coin and if i should have graded. sorry for the bad lighting in the pics. The pictures do not show the amount of luster it has. its luster is like that of a proof or newly minted coin. Again sorry about the pics and thanks for the help.
Sorry, but I wouldn't even attempt a guess from those photos. You need to take the photos from directly overhead with good lighting. Photos taken at an angle like this can hide flaws. Chris
because i have never found a coin worth getting slabbed and all the examples i saw online are slabbed.
I have a coin IQ of like 5 so this is why I ask here. I have no clue on either value nor grade so I value your input and if you say its not worth it its not worth it.
Think about it this way - A member here on Coin Talk recently sent five coins in to be graded (the minimum I believe) and he opted to have two of them imaged. It broke down to $41 each coin.
Unless it's a '70 it ain't worth gettin' graded. Crap shoot when it comes to submitting moderns.......
Hard to tell from the photos but it looks like a decent 2011-D. Since 2002 Kennedy halves have only be minted to sell directly to collectors (rolls, bags, mint sets), but they don't give them much in the way of special handling, so choice examples are still somewhat special. However it's still probably not worth having it graded as it's not likely worth as much as even the cheapest grading fee. Cheapest reasonably respectable TPG I can think of would be ANACS, which would grade modern (1950-present) US coins for $10 each (min. 5 per submission) plus the insurance/return shipping fee (depends on total value of the coins). I'd want better pictures to give this a grade but I'd say probably about MS-65, if the luster is as good as you say it is. A few marks to keep it going much higher but otherwise looks pretty nice.
