    • I have a coin that looks very old and I have never see that kind of text before and I'm a pretty big coin collector. It was gave to me by my great grandpa he served in world war 2. Please help me find out what kind of coin this is. I'm almost certain that it's authentic.

The "old guys" here should be able to answer your question. I remain young at heart and sadly, I haven't the answer.........

I have no idea about authenticity or not, but the first picture appears to read "yerushalaiim", or "Jerusalem". I can't quite make out what is said in the second photo.

So do you believe it's authentic?

    I meant so you don't think it's authentic it's a replica

Though I am not an expert, the style of the written Hebrew looks a bit too modern if it was supposed to be an ancient coin, but I cannot add to its authenticity of a more modern coin.

I am no expert on these, but I have to agree with Chris. I believe it to be a modern fake. Sorry.

first of all => welcome, nick S!!

secondly, despite green18's endorsement, I am certainly not the dude that you'd spend your "phone a friend" on ... however, I do know that if you give the crew a bit more info they may be able to give you a better "final answer" ...

example => what is the diameter and the weight of your Great Grandpa's cool coin?

A tourist piece. It doesn't even come close to mimicking the original, so it can't even be called a replica - it's a fantasy token you can buy at most five-and-dime gift shops in Israel. You don't need to look any further than the fact that the lettering is in modern Hebrew square script. We get quite a few people asking about these at FORVM. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
