Got also this Drachm, even though I know almost nothing about Parthian coinage. Have been trying all afternoon to pin down the mint and the Sellwood number. Right now I think it is from a roaming mint (found at www.parthia.com), but I can't even figure out the legend. The attribution that came with the drachm says: "Parthia, Orodes II; 57-38 BC, Drachm, 3.71g. Sunrise-365. Obv: Diademed bust. Rx: Archer (Arsakes I) seated right on throne, holding bow; monogram below bow. MS" Picture courtesy HJB: Your help is very much appreciated.
The coin is indeed Orodes II, Sellwood 45.10, "Court at Ekbatana" mint according to Sellwood. The Sunrise number is wrong- #365 in Sunrise has a Nisa mintmark. Don't worry about the legend; Orodes II is the point where the legends on Parthian drachms become just a standard formula that doesn't tell you anything useful about who issued the coin, and even that is starting to show degradation in the letter forms. (For the record, it reads "Basileos basileon Arsakou euergetou dikaiou epiphanous philellenos" [of the King of Kings Arsakes, beneficent, just, illustrious, and loving the Greeks].) A nice coin, congratulations!
