This one has me a bit stumped.
It has a nice bust with decent detail, while the reverse seems weaker specially on the wings.
My opinion is this is a weakly struck coin. Please let me hear your opinions.
    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Thanks, Mike.
I am (pleasantly) surprised you would go as high as that!

    I agree with VF-20.

I'm feeling more F15 on this one, guys...

and I'm definitely not what you'd call a "conservative grader". :p

If you say a poor strike is the result of the lack of detail on the reverse, and if a TPG agrees with your theory, getting it in a VF holder may still be possible.

Thank, guys. As i said, this one is not straight forward for me.

It came in a Bowers & Merena Lot I bought over 20 years ago, and it was only described as I remember as 'Fine'.

However, the obverse and the periphery on the reverse look more like VF'ish to me. Shall we say F15 then?

Although dentil/secondary device sharpness typically isn't a good indicator of the coin's overall grade, I do agree that the peripheries are sharp for a "Fine" coin...

Still, F15 is likely what'd be considered in today's marketplace... but again, if a TPG concurs that a soft strike resulted in loss of detail, it could still get in a VF holder. Did you purchase this piece with plans of submitting to a TPG? Lord knows if you get it in a VF holder, it'd be worth a helluva lot more...

    Thanks for your comments.
Concerning getting this coin graded by a TPG, I am an old fashioned collector - I keep my coins in trays or in Intercept holders, and I haven't really thought about that. Actually, living in Germany, getting my coins graded would not be easy, even though I understand that both PCGS and NGC now have a presence in Europe.
