According to ANA Grading Standards VG-8 is described as follows.... Obverse...Outline of hair is visible at temple and near cheekbone. Liberty merges with rim. Date is clear Reverse... Some detail shows in head. Lettering is all clear Horn is worn nearly flat but is partially visible. This grade is pretty accurate with what your Buffalo looks like.
I would grade it at VG-8 by the ANA grading standards. My reasons are: the LIBERTY on the obverse is merging with the rim, and the horn is worn pretty much flat on the reverse. There may be a hint of some horn outline which could hint at a grade of F-12, but I think regardless it would grade VG because the rims are too weak for a F-12. Hope this helps, mac10man! - Jake
I concur....VG-8 looks right to me. But it is a solid looking and honest coin, better than what many people will "market grade" buffalos.
