I just read the thread in this forum from yesterday about "my coin got killed" and I have the following questions. I have a 1922 no d penny that I have all ready put pictures of on this forum on feb 4 th of this year. The responses were that I should have it slabbed even though I do not plan on selling it at this time. My question is, what is NCS, what does it cost for there services and should I send my coin there first like in the thread referenced above? I have checked around for a dealer to submit through but have not submitted yet. I am in no hurry to slab and also am a little nervous handing it over to someone.
Does it ned conserved or just slabbed? If nothing is wrong with it, just send it to NGC or PCGS to be slabbed. No one needs to touch it.
Hey Medoraman, I'm from Minnesota too! Twin cities. My coin is just dark colored, not apparently dirty or anything. I assumed by reading other threads that if it was conserved it may grade out better. Search "slodg1" and view my 2/4....or maybe 2/5 photos.
Unless there is PVC damage on it (green stuff) or dirt that needs to be removed. There is no need to send it to NCS. Getting it graded is a good idea as some of these are considered just weakly struck.
I agree. I saw your three cents on the earlier post, and the main reason they should be slabbed is just to prove they are genuine. They do not need to go to NCS. You can join the ANA and get permission to submit to NGC, or go to your local dealer and ask him to send yours in the next time he sends some coins in.
I think all three are heavily faked, and could benefit from slabbing. The 22 especially, but all three are keys. I do not suggest slabbing lightly, so take it for what thats worth.
