Salutions to all of the numismatic gurus here at CoinTalk. I have a guestion. What is it about the 1955 Franklin half that makes it a Bugs Bunny. I am a big fan of Franklin Proofs and have several 1955s, but I don't see it, therefore I'm not sure if I have one or not. Thanks.
It was due to clash marks - the tip of the eagle's wing over the mouth makes it look like Ben has buck teeth. The following link will do a good job of explaining it - Click here
If you have PF Franklins I'm not sure if you will have a Bugs Bunny...I have never heard of a PF Bugs bunny... I also collect PF Franklins...I'm doing a set of PF66 (CAMEO is ok) and they all must be slabbed by one of the top 4...so far I'm over half way done!!! Speedy
I have a set of Franklins but I've never checked them for the 1955 BB. Is it a fairly obvious error or is it hard to determine if it is a BB? Well, here's a picture of my 1955 Franklin. Let me know what you think.
I would say yours is not a BB...I had one and after a few months fingerprints showed up....I used acetone and now it looks like I cleaned it with a papertowle...really bad.... Speedy
You guys are awsome This has got to be to site of the century. Not only did you guys answer my question, but (thanks to GDJMSP) have also given me a site where I can research other topics of interest. I have recently help start the AACC (Anderson Area Coin Club), so I will definitely spread the word to our membership about this wonderful site. Thanks again.
