Got a cheap camera tripod and have been playing around with macro, lighting, and hoping to get better. Canon A520....plan on making a diffused light box soon. Comments welcome.
Hi BlueAngel, fantastic pics ... can i request u to post the settings of the camera. I have a cannon a530 (no tripod or any accessories). I cannot take pics anywhere as nice yours. Hence would request u to post the settings of the camera and maybe i can do the same with mine. Thx.
Best thing you can do to help your photos: Proper exposure. Proper white balance. Learn how to manually set those on your camera, and you'll be getting much better photos. John (who also owns a photography company and shoots professionally)
The pix look great. Since you mention a light box, you'll be able to improve them greatly with proper lighting after you get one. Incidently, you can make one out of a big cardboard box, a white cotton sheet and a couple of desk lamps.
Thanks for the comments! Get a cheap tripod.....I paid $15 for mine. I placed the coin on a cigar box wrapped in white paper to get the coin about 2" from the camera lens. I TURNED OFF the flash. I TURNED ON the macro function. I adjusted the tripod height slightly and did not adjust zoom....only focus. I set the timer for 2 seconds. I used a table lamp with a 40 watt incandescent bulb and wrapped the lamp with opaque tracing paper to diffuse the light. When I get time I plan on having two lamp to completely remove the shadows and hope to make some sort of light box out of white fabric to diffuse the lighting. So far, only taken in auto mode...I plan on playing around with manual settings also. I find it amazing what these inexpensive digitals will do right out of the box with decent lighting.
