plating Blisters 2008 penny

    I've had this penny for a while. Kept it because I thought it was interesting. Can anybody confirm (from the pictures) that it is Plating Blisters?

    That's beyond blisters, it's dying of zinc rot.

    I'm not really a penny guy, but that looks environmental. Heat maybe.
    There are some here who do pennies that'll know for sure.
    There ya go an answer while I typed, lol.

    This is not what I expected to see. Whats odd is the pattern that has developed at the rim and how unaffected some of the low areas of the design seem to be. It makes me wonder how a zincoln would be affected by acid .

    So it looks more like a penny dipped in acid?

    It looks altered post mint. Plating blisters don't add value anyway so it's a spender.
