Hi, I have a silver colored penny from 1983 and was wondering if it were a mistake or someone's science experiment. I do not think there is a significant difference in weight. I don't have a scale, but I do have another 1983 penny to compare it to. The coin is not magnetic. Thank you in advance for your help!
I figured as much. I was really hoping to pad my coffers for some extra Christmas presents. Should I destroy it? Or just keep it out of circulation with a note that says "science experiment"?
I would never suggest destroying a coin... I would simply turn it into a bank for a new to you Cent if you don't want it
Bingo! Good question though.. welcome to CoinTalk. I'm glad you are responding positive to the members answers. Some other new members would fight tooth and nail to prove that it's an actual error worth billions of $$$
Well I will probably always be poor. I make decent money, but I have a little girl with major heart issues. My brothers and I were raised under the "earn your own money and life is work and bills" motto lol. I do not anticipate any financial windfalls in my life, though I wouldnt mope over a good find.
Just woke up dude? It's a real Cent not fake. But it has already been established that it's plated.. read the earlier posts
