Original Post updated. It was done by wrapping the coin in aluminum foil, and heating it up to the point where some of the aluminum (remember, it's just thin foil) liquefied and transferred to the coin. I was actually trying to Tone the coin in the experiment, but I think the temperatures were too high

The oven was only 425ºF - but I placed it right under the heating bar. Also, I only wrapped it in 1 layer of foil.
How hot did you get it and what did you use? Edit: did not see previous post. I will have to try it. lol
