I enjoy collecting paper money, but errors with paper are sometimes a mystery to me. For instance, funkee recently posted this post: http://www.cointalk.com/threads/value-on-treasurer-autographed-back-plate-error.238645/#post-1815283 Rather than hijacking his thread, I thought I would reference it here and ask my question. I understand that the back plate used in printing this note was not the correct pairing...but why? What makes this an error?
good question, was wondering that myself....did notice that the border looks larger on reverse, could reverse plate be of a slightly smaller size? maybe from a different series? hope someone knows the answer to your question... ok dont think its the size, held a dollar up to my screen an reverse is smaller than the front so im guessing thats normal...
Yes, the engraved plate number is the wrong size, since the note was printed at Forth Worth. This website explains it well, with photos: http://snorkack.nfshost.com/fw295/
