Hello... I am looking for a source of planchet weights. I have several planchets of various sizes, metals and weights. I have weighed them and now I am seeking to cross reference them to possible coins. Can someone help?
Also of interest, there is a reference that lists, with specifications, the foreign coins that the mint produced. It is a small black covered book, I'll try to find my copy to list it.. unless anyone else has a copy? Frank
Try this for information on foreign coins struck at the US Mint. It is a PDF document so you will have to have adobe reader. http://minterrornews.com/foreign_coinage_production_figures.pdf If you don't have Adobe reader you can download a copy of it here (It's free and a good idea to have it because as time passes you will run into a lot of things in PDF format.) http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
I'm assuming you think they would be more ? Why ? Small denomination blanks go for $1 or maybe $2 - Sacky blanks for around $5 - why would a half blank be more ?
A Sacky blank is a lot more than $5....check out this... http://www.fredweinberg.com/inventory/item.asp?ID=3152 As for the Half Dollar---if it is a TY 1 Blank then Fred lists it at $125 and if a TY2 at $65. Speedy
Thanks, Speedy, also, I like their listing: Blank Planchet Type-II Certified: Raw Price: $125 Is Certified Raw a new TPG name? Just kidding, but that could be misleading, why not say: no, or ot certified.
