Planchet size of dime sticks to a magnet

    I found a dime sized planchet which has the color of a penny but sticks to a magnet any ideas

    Probably a disk of scrap metal not from the mint

    It's a slug.
    I found at first what I thought was a cent blank.
    But then I realized it was too small.
    It is the EXACT size and weight of a dime. I thought it might be
    the copper core of a dime, but that would have to weigh less.
    It sticks to a magnet, which means it's junk.

    I find quarter blanks in electrical power boxes all the time.
    Of course, they're just slugs .. which come in all sizes.

    pictures would help of course. We cannot see what you are seeing and holding with such a vague description.
