Hi Cynde, Welcome to cointalk. I'll tell you what I have learned so far. What you have is a case of post mint damage with verdigris and some environmental damage. There is no such thing as a die smudge error on coins. Keep looking and dont be afraid to ask questions
PMD - Post (after it left the Mint) Mint Damage Your Cent was damaged due to hits and someone hammering it causing dents.

Try this experiment: put a couple brand new pennies in your driveway. Run over them with your car a couple of times. Leave them out there for a week or two. Run over them again. Then go get them. I bet they'll look pretty close to the things you've posted. When we say "parking lot coins", we aren't joking.
