Hi guys. I recently purchased an 1881 O Morgan Dollar that was in a holder graded by Michigan Masters. I researched them and found some stuff from a few years ago that seemed promising as far as grading. I am well aware "PCGS and NGC are the only companies that matter", but this was labeled as an MS63PL either way. There is a high level of reflectivity and also a decent cameo still on the devices. What would you guys say as a conservative grade on this one?

IMHO, the obverse isn't even close to PL. The reverse is very reflective, but it takes two sides to make a DMPL or PL coin.

Ya I have a lighting problem that needs some tending to lol maybe these are better at showing reflection?

This one is taken through a jewelers loupe from about 10" and kind of helps see the reflection on the obverse as well. It's not as reflective as the reverse but to me it looks PL obv/DMPL reverse. I respect your opinion I just didn't do well with the first image taken through the plastic holder is all.

Taking a photo through a loupe doesn't help show reflectivity. The right side of the obverse does not appear to be PL to me. Like Mike said, it needs both sides.

No I didn't mean it was helping I just stated that because you can clearly see the loupe in the reflection from 10" away still. I also think he may have meant both sides being obverse and reverse. I get what you're saying but the reflection is on both sides. Thats fine I asked for an opinion and got one but if the left side of the obverse is mirrored enough to pass, the right is the same. Thanks.

I don't really see enough evidence to convince me that the grade or designation is wrong.

I think that it's important to remember that there's more to a PL Morgan than mirror fields.

There doesn't appear to be enough frost on the obverse of the OP's coin to garner a PL designation in my book.

    No, there isn't.

Thank you Dave! I didn't think it was necessary to have cameo considering a regular proof can go with or without and still be a proof. The grade is probably affected by the overall cameo opposed to designation, correct?

...yup...for PL it's all about the mirror fields :)

Perfect video description. This was my first exercise in Buying the coin, not the slab, and it's very exciting considering I lucked out on a coin nobody wanted because of its holder! Thanks a lot guys.
