Pillars?

    The doubling on your coin definitely resembles the doubling pictured on Wexler's, but in your pics the area with the markers is light blasted, so can't see detail. Take a closeup of the e pluribus unum and above where you can see the fields of the coin clearly for the die markers;)

    I see nothing in EPU, It may have been reflections, but certainly something on 1st and last pillars.

    I'm thinking this is pretty common on memorial cents and my lighting made it look a bit more dramatic. This doubling stuff is making me bonkers.

    that cent has a ton of split plating on it too. just look up and around the letters, the sides of the memorial .. all over the place.
    The answers to your "wondering" are all over that cent. You just have to look at it as you may be too focused on finding an error.

    Split plating, I did notice the legend between the rim and letters. I think my lighting is too harsh also. Thx
