I have a Toshiba PDR2300....I am trying to take pictures of coins and they seem to get a bleached out they are not clear like the ones I've seen here....i found a Macro setting on the camera and they got a little better........ Are there any tricks that someone could tell me..... like Use flash/don't use flash is day light better or room lighting...... Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated This is the collection that has been in storage for 30 years and I want to get rid of it. I took 2 small boxes to a coin dealer and he offered me $4,500.00 .....After bringing it home I when on to coin world and priced the contents of one of the boxes and using their lowest quality price came up with almost $7,000 and many of my coins look brand new .... Thanks for your help.... Cindy
Use settings like macro lens, tri-pod, NO Flash... Use indirect diffused lighting. I like GE's Reveal light bulbs available at any store. Also, I use a milk/water gallon jug with the top cut off to diffuse the light even more. Put the coins on a black, porous blackground (i.e., black cloth) inside the jug so that no light is reflected from the adjacent/background surface. Also, it helps if you can take pictures next to a window on a sunny day so that you cover the entire visible light spectrum. Use this with these Revela light bulbs to get the best result. Good luck
Thanks for the info I will try it tomorrow.....I could not fnd anything in the owners manual that gave hints for taking pictures of collectables.I know I could do it with my old cannon but then I'd have to take the time to get them developed and scan them and all that.... Thanks again Cindy
