I just wanted to share some pics of what my newly, yet arduously acquired "Texas" collection. These are pretty much the pride of my entire collection so far. The first one is a 1934 Texas Comm. half. Y'all let me know what you think the grade could possibly be for this one. Theres a line you can see between "Texas" and Victory's wing. Not sure what it is, but it is raised not depressed. Still has bright white luster, too.:hail:

This one I just got last week. It's a NORFED 2006 Liberty Dollar Texas SMI (State Monetary Initiative) error as it is dated 2007 on the obverse and 2006 on the reverse. I also have a Texas SMI Liberty Dollar normal I just got in today. It has the same reverse dated 2006 but the obverse instead of 2007 says USA. For some reason the pics of it wouldn't upload.

This is my NORFED 2008 Ron Paul Liberty Dollar. Just got it about two weeks ago. Had problems uploading the reverse image for this one too. I also have the 2010 Ron Paul half dollar buried in my collection somewhere.

I'm not aware of any huge die crack as such on the 1934 Texas commemorative, that doesn't mean there aren't any out there, just that I've never seen one like that.

It looks like a die crack to me. Very nice commem!

Are you collecting everything and anything in the way of coins and medals pertaining to Texas? If so, you might want to look for the 3-medal set for the 1978 ANA Convention that was held in Houston.

Yeah I try to get atleast one of anything Texas, coins and medals, even if its not to great just so I have it. Thanks for the info on that medal set, I'm definately gonna check it out. I'd like to have the entire Texas Commem set, but some like the 1938 are very hard to even find.Regarding the Texas Commem, so if thats a die crack, would it be worth more or less? or does it just depend on the potential buyers thoughts on it. Not that I would sell it.

Once the coiners (especially commemorative coins) see a die crack, the press is stopped and the dies examined. If caught early enough, the shattered die is removed and if the entire runs is defective, the coins get recycled. If they miss some of the die cracked coins in the bin, well they become sought after by specialty collectors because of the limited amount.

It's still a buyers market out there for these kinds of coins, I would assume you could get a slight premium, but it would have to be in someones plastic to do so. ANACS might put "Die Cracked Rev" on the label...that would really help and authenticate the coin.

Texas has lots and lots of Republic of Texas money...woser, some are very rare.

I LOVE the adverse of the Texas Commem......I don't have one yet, but will one day.

If you are in to paper money at all, and you want everything Texas, let me recommend a book an acquaintance wrote. It is very good, you'll enjoy it.

The Paper Republic: The Struggle for Money, Credit and Independence in the Republic of Texas
    by James P. Bevill

If interested in it, google "The Paper Republic" and you'll find it.

    Congrats on your coins!!

Yeah, to me the Texas Commem. is the prettiest coin out there. Speaking of paper money I also have a Republic of Texas three dollar bill, but I believe its a fake. I'll check out that book you recommended as well, thanks. What would y'alls guess be towards the grade of the Texas Commem?
