I'm starting a modest collection by getting one of each of the main times of coins used in the 20th Century. These are the ones I picked up this past week at the "Coin Fest" in Tacoma, WA: Cent--1909 V.D.B. (nope, no "S") Nickels: 1903 V and 1930 Buff (he's very dark) Dimes: 1906 Barber and one of my previous 1941 Mercs which I THINK shows full bands
And the big boys Franklin Half, 1950D: 1926 Peace Dollar. The photos bring out the specking way more than shows to the naked eye: Any and all comments are welcome! Rob
Nice to hold, aren't they? I'm thinking that Merc isn't quite full bands -- I certainly see some separation in the middle bands, but it doesn't look like it's "full" (there are some spots where the gap looks filled in). On the other hand, I'm a bit jealous of the Barber dime, just because it was a long time between getting my first Barber coin and getting my first one that actually showed full LIBERTY. You picked a nice piece there -- congratulations!
Yes, the cent is a V.D.B. and I did mention that. The Buffalo IS an S...I did forget to say that! Thanks also for the kudos on the Barber dime. It was second most expensive behind the Peace Dollar. Rob
