Not a perfect specimen by any means, but a tough date nonetheless. Only 330,000 minted for 1899 P. I already had one in AU condition, but had to have this one. Possible low MS grade. But the reason I aggressively bid on it and laid in the weeds is because I believe to be a VAM 6A with a cud below the date on the rim. At first I thought it to be a ding until I looked at VAM World. Then I went all in, and got it fairly reasonably anyway.
Even if not, it's a tough coin in AU through MS, so I'm happy as a pig in a mud bin.:p 1899.png 1899R.png

Nice looking and yes that’s a rim cud. Nice pickup. It is a thought coin yo obtain. I have one but it’s in G condition.

Agree that it's VAM 6A given the rim cud. Only a few die pairs with that low mintage.
