I have been looking for a source for some phillipine coins dated 1968 - 1969. Specificly 25 and 50 centavo pieces. Also paper currency that might have been used in the same era. It's a nastalgia thing. Anybody know of a source?
Actually I'm looking for the actual coins and paper money. Tried several search engines, ebay etc. but can't find much.
Personally, I think eBay is a good bet. I lot of coins and currency flows through there, just keep looking and eventually something will pop up. Though you might not want to be too specific. Most people who are selling foreign coins just want to get rid of them, and won't advertise as "1968 Filipino 25 centavo"
I did as Tre suggested and did a variety of searches on ebay. Came up with some pretty good coins at pretty good prices. Even got a couple of 25 and 50 centavo pieces from 1960 and 1964 that were listed as MS 65 +. Really pretty coins. As I said, it's a nostaglia thing I spent a year on a small island in the central philippines (Mactan Island, 24 sq mi) in the sixties. I don't imagine the coins have much collector value as the are probably still in the "pocket change" realm. I'd be interested in the coins you might have though.
