    Hi All,
well to say I was dissapointed in the show this year is an understatement. I saw three, yes 3 Icelandic coins. They were horrible and way, way, WAY over priced. $65 for a 1925 2 k that was is such poor shape that I would have refused to take if the dealer gave it to me. There were 5 MAYBE 6 world coin dealers. The show itself even seemed smaller than last year. Don't get me wrong, if you were looking for US coins the show was great! I'm looking forward to Baltimore in Nov. Hopefully the pickins will be a little better. I'm also looking forward to the NYINC show in January, that show sounds really good for us world collectors!

I still only have the 3 Icelandic coins. I am thinking I will do a small collection of the Kingdom coins as 2 of the coins I have are from that time. :smile But before I buy any more, I will need to find out what the prices should be and what to look for in grading them. Hopefully I can get some good help from you and the others on this.

I agree with Mark, the show was a bit of a dissapointment although I did well for myself. I picked up a lot of coin related exonumia for my collection, and four NJ obsolete notes. Nothing in the way of counterstamps, although I saw a small collection of them at a dealer's table. Steve Hayden, who I regularly buy counterstamps from, didn't set up at the show so I had to rely on finding a random example here and there. I couldn't find anything that appealed to me, so didn't come home with any new ones.

The crowd seemed a bit thin, but we went on Thursday so it may have picked up on Friday and Saturday. The Convention Center is a nice venue to hold the shows at and the security seemed pretty tight. They had regular Philadelphia Police officers patrolling the floor, so I had no concerns about safety. The ANA convention will be in the city next year ao I'm looking forward to that. Also Baltimore in November which is always a great show. Looking forward to hearing from others about their experiences.

Oh by the way Mark, quit whining. You did get a few cheap, seedy looking Austrian coins for pocket change. You know that life is tough for Icelandic coin collectors. Suck it up cupcake! :D
