So I took off a day of work to go to the Philly Whitman Show. Got there at about 1:30, and spent 3 hours there.

I did not find many of the items that I was looking for, such as 10Fr swiss coins, and even something as simple as a 1925S peace dollar in MS63 (there was one, but they were asking way too much for it).

It looked to me like most of the action was dealer to dealer, even during general hours. I did manage to pick up a nice 24S peace dollar in MS63 from Bob Paul (Certified Assets Management), whom I find that his prices are reasonable & he has a good selection (not just Morgans).

Which brings me to another point. There were so many dealers who were just showing Morgans, Gold & US Commemoratives. Seeing so many makes me think there is an oversupply.

I did pick up some supplies, some junk walkers for my album, and a 1925 Swiss 5 Franc coin (larger size). I also sold off my NIFC halves:smile, and picked up some Frankies slabbed MS63 for close to melt. Maybe I can start something with that.

Overall, I'm happy that I went, but for a major show, I'm disappointed with the selection.

Nice report. When I went to Long Beach recently I stayed more in the world/ancient section but I did stroll through the U.S. once and the glut of morgan dollars was crazy. Wish I could have scooped up some gold though, lol.
