Unfortunately, Peter's advice is sound advice. It's awful that we can't even have honesty and integrity within our own membership. I think whoever the buyer is, has not only a right to " Out " this individual , but a responsibility to as well. This sickens me to learn of this type of theft going on within our membership. I fully appreciate Peter's position in this situation, and as the administrator, he has no legal obligation to intervene. More and more each day, I become more cynical about trusting folks. Disgusting.http://www.cointalk.com/t144569/
Yes it sound advise from Peter, but I am going to withhold judgement on that a theft has occurred until the participants come forward. It maybe just be a simple matter that the money order was not received by the seller.
It more than likely is a disagreement over the grade of a raw coin. Pictures were probly given and after receiving the coin, said pictures were probly said to be doctored. This is all pure speculation, but it happens all the time.
It sounds something a bit more involved than a disagreement on a grade, as I read Peter's note . If it were as simple as that, I'm sure they could have handled it between themselves. In any event, Peter's logic is worthwhile adhering to . I know we have many youngster's in the membership , I'd hate to think that one of them were taken advantage of by another member.
It seems more than likely a money order was sent and the coins never received. What recourse does the buyer have? if the seller says the coins were shipped (and has no proof such as delivery confirmation or postal receipt) and the buyer doesn't receive them... then the transaction is a "push" and the buyer is out the $. Without the protection of PayPal or a CC, there's not much that can be done.
This is why, as I've said before, there is absolutely 100% no reason for any seller not to accept PayPal. I think the desire to own the coin sometimes clouds the judgement of the buyer. We should rather realize that, when you have the cash you set the rules. If you are uncomfortable with the transaction then don't buy or make the seller change the terms to your liking. As for me, I will not buy any coin online without PayPal or some other commercial protection. (My comments are more in reference to this thread: http://www.cointalk.com/t140516/ I don't know if this is the specified transaction Peter is referring to or not.)
I hear what y'all are saying, and I don't disagree. It's a shame, that a gentleman's agreement no longer any good, even within our membership. I hope they work this out .
