He will only get a coin if he's dead. He might get a coin if he's dead in 2017, but with his wealth and government medical care, he may still be alive when he's 70.

I don't like the idea of a james Buchanan doller either, but he was president.

Does anybody have a link to any designs?

wouldn't it be better to spend all those dimes you get in change? What a waste of money!!!

I don't use dimes. Cents, 5 Cent pieces, and Quarter dollars, I use. Dimes, I have no use for.

Neither do we. We save all the change and at the end of the year around Christmas buy the makings for a "kick-ass" party with all our clients and part-time help :D We've had some good ones along the way too...

    Happy Halloween

I like the One Dollar coin idea... Presidential or otherwise. I'd like to see a coin take the place of the One Dollar bill and be widely accepted and used. Given the choice between 10 Sacs clinking in my pocket or 10 bills folded in my wallet, I think the coins are easier to deal with. It doesn't take many bills to make a wallet bulge uncomfortably. I like spending dollar coins, half dollars and two dollar bills just to get people thinking about the fact that they exist.

He looks just like me ;) it runs in the family I guess----about the only President coins I'll save are the Harrison's and good ol' Abe!....I under stand from one paper that we have that all three are family---just not close enough to where I can really clam them :D :D
But the reason that you won't find me running for that office is that I might end us just like good ol William!

Hmmm - by 2017 we'll get a coin for Ford, mayber Carter, probably not Clinton, maybe the old Bush, probably not GW. How many will we get? Who will be the last one? Just where will the buck stop?

(sorry couldn't resist that little presidential dollar joke)

It'll stop with the first one that's still alive when we get to him.

Wasn't there a President of America that served non-consecutive terms? I think it was Calvin Coolidge.Am I right?

no, it was Grover Cleveland, and because it was non-consecutive terms, he's getting 2 separate coins.

Thanks for letting us know.I thought that he would be represented on only one coin, even though he was the only President of America to have served non-consecutive terms.

I don't agree with that either. If the program is to honor the office of the President, or to honor the President himself, then it should include ALL of them. Now I can see not wanting to strike a coin for a living person, but I think that once an ex-president reached the "been dead for two years" requirement they should issue his coin. Even if the series was ended years before.
