is there a market for pennies or did I save a big jug for nothing I know the 1934 steel is worth a little to the right person but is there anything else worth saving for a rainy day or maybe I should pass on to my kids or there's some day
HI, Wheat pennies sell for any where from $1.50-$2.00 a roll. If they are lincolns it depends on the year and condition.
Two of the numbers are reversed. It's 1943 steel cent. Actually, there are lots of interesting pennies out there and some are extremely valuable. Long before you just take them to a bank, check out the coppercoins.com web site. There is a guy there that has written two books on just Lincoln Cents. I've been coin collecting for well over 50 years and learned so much from one of those books it really hurt wondering how many great coins I may have just dumped into the bank. There are double dies, offsets, repunched mint marks and just so many differences it will make your head spin looking for them. True some are minor but they do sell for a lot at the coin shows. At one coin show I regularly attend there is one dealer that has numerous Lincoln Cent errors that sell for anywhere from a dollar to several hundred. Lots depends on how long you've been accumulating them because if you have many from the 50's you may have one of those famous 55 double dies. You need to check out that web site or buy that book.
Okay, I admit that I'm pretty ignorant about US coins, but what's the date span for wheaties that don't have Abe on the obverse? Or are there really "wheat pennies" out there from one of the British Commonwealth countries?
Wheats roll mostly sell for $2-$2.50 IMO..... And Roy...your right...they all have Abe! The 1943 Cents aren't worth any more than another Wheat Cent...just $.04-$.05 each. Speedy
