Penny with copper coating?

    What about this coin? Any opinions? It is worn off on the rim on both side and exposing what seems to be a differant matel under the copper.

    It's exposing the inner core of zinc. Lincolns from 1983 on are zinc with a copper outer plating.

    Thanks i never knew that. Hope all my silver coins dont have copper in them LOL.

    If you're talking about American silver than they sure do. Most American silver coins are only 90% silver and the rest is copper and sometimes a tiny mix.

    Mhmmm but I think you will come to find that just about no silver coin out there is 100% silver. Some are very near that, though.
